One of the world’s greatest and most precious resources is the human brain, human ideas. To sustain life we need fresh water, our unique blend of atmospheric gases and the bounty of food provided by the earth’s vegetation. Other natural resources, although not necessary for survival, like fossil fuels, minerals and lumber create substantially more ease in our lives. With the dwindling supplies of earth’s natural resources and the need to find alternative solutions, bright ideas are in demand.
The history of new ideas, brilliant solutions and innovations is staggering. Even if you only count the ideas in use there is an impressive array. But what if all the brilliant ideas and medical cures that already exist could see the light of day? What if all the patents that have been paid for and then hidden could be revealed? What if we prioritized great ideas that helped all people rather than just a few?
If we valued innovative solutions over the status quo and valued serving humanity over profit, the world would change immediately for the better. Imagine if every great idea coming from anyone, anywhere, had a forum for expression? Imagine if every community had a forum with problematic questions where other people could offer help or solutions? A “kijiji” or “marketplace” but for ideas rather than things.
I have long considered creating such a forum myself but I’m sure someone out there reading this would be better equipped. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s all help each other in order to help ourselves.
